When you give to the YMCA of Northern BC, you have a direct impact in Prince George by supporting essential programs for children, families and seniors. Rooted in more than 1,000 communities around the country, the YMCA has the long-standing relationships and physical presence not just to promise, but to deliver, lasting personal and social change.
Your support also helps make Y programs accessible to everyone, regardless of their financial situation. Last year we provided $167,000 in subsidies and want to do even more - see below for examples of what your donations can do!
Ryan Shiels Memorial Fund - Following Ryan's sudden passing, Ryan's family and friends created a fund that would honour his love of the great outdoors. As an avid outdoor enthusiast who often could be found hiking on Mount Robson, or camping near the many area lakes, his life was truly enriched through what nature could offer. In a partnership with the Prince George Community Foundation the proceeds from the earned interest from the capital donations received are granted in his memory to the YMCA of Northern BC's Aurora Youth Leadership program. This program is dedicated to providing encouragement, support and financial assistance and helping young people aspire to and achieve greater individual accomplishments. Donations to this fund can be made through the Prince George Community Foundation at PO Box 1204, Prince George, BC V2L 4V3 or online through the donate now button at www.pgcf.ca
Garett McComb Fund - Created by his family in 2008 to remember Garett and his appreciation of higher education for himself and those around him. Funds are directed towards those who access the Youth Around Prince George Resource Centre (YAP) and need support in meeting their educational goals. Learn more about this fund here.
